Take Away Tips from Colonel Harland David Sanders
Many of you might have heard about or visited to KFC. They have different varieties of chicken menu like wings, rice bowl which is one of my favorite combos, chicken burger and so on. The crunchy texture of chicken might feel you to grab it and eat it all alone. No! No! I am not here to tempt you to eat. There is another reason to write about the KFC. If you search you will find the history about it but just to give you a glimpse of it the founder of KFC is Colonel Harland David Sanders. If we just look back and examine his journey he tried many different things but failed to maintain his job stability. Since his childhood he used to learn different kinds of food items. When he was at the age of 13 he left his home and started to work in Shell filling station and was serving food for the travelers.
It was here that he first served to travelers the recipes that he had learned as a child: fried chicken and other dishes such as steaks and country ham. After four years of serving from his own dining room table, Sanders purchased the larger filling station on the other side of the road and expanded to six tables. Then he gradually expanded his business and open franchises in different countries and the rest is you all know.
Keeping this example in mind let’s learn same factors that can be applied in our lives.
Key points to remember:
Identify: Colonel Harland David Sanders used to visit his grandma's place and enjoyed eating his grandma's handmade chicken. This might have helped him to identify the uniqueness for making chicken menu items. Identifying your strengths will make you a better person.
What is appropriate time to showcase your qualities? There is no such timing as Colonel Sanders was determined and had focus so even at his 60's he was successful but his preparation was since he was 13 years old. I could say filling a bucket can also be possible when you pour water drop by drop.
Innovation and You? What makes you strive or achieve that you are willing to. When Colonel Harland David Sanders started his business of KFC he felt tried to innovate it and thought how he can serve quickly to his customers. Then he tried to pressure cook it and with the help of 11 species he created a chicken menu. Let’s say, for a start up business who is working for soap company there are other companies who are manufacturing the soaps but how your company is different from them the approach of each company or an individual might be different. Every person has their own way of innovating and trying. What's your?
Where to end it? When you work for society and you need to build upon your capabilities I can say there is no end. Yes, there might be time where you need to give an apostrophe and the sentence goes on and on. The main thing that needs to be considered is achieving small - small goals which collectively are a bigger one. There is no such fixing or permanent goal; it's an impermanence approach towards your achievement where one leads to another.
Never give up: If you look at his journey you might see there were times in his life where he failed to sustain a job. What made him rise up is he never gave up on his ideas, thoughts and saw different ways to achieve it. There might be situations were one might feel that their ideas or thoughts are not appealing to others instead of giving up one can always try to modify it and update the original ideas. It’s like you are finding different ways to reach your destination.
